dottings - ambassadors of Vienna Design Week at DMY in Berlin

From May 21 to 25, eight designers present what Austrian design in general and the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK in particular have to offer at the DMY International Design Festival in Berlin. As embassadors, the designers represent the Viennese design festival, which takes place for the second time from October 2 to 12.
The VIENNA DESIGN WEEK Embassy temporarily opens in the DMY exhibition centre, core of the Berlin festival. In terms of an exchange of large international design presentations, Neigunsgruppe Design - Tulga Beyerle, Thomas Geisler and Lilli Hollein -, maker of the Viennese event, was invited by Berlin’s festival director Joerg Suermann. In return, designers from Berlin will travel to the Viennese festival in October.
Eight positions on contemporary Austrian design will be shown on the 30m2 stand by bkm design working group, danklhampel design, Marco Dessi, dottings Industrial Design, memux, Polka Products, Patrick Rampelotto and Robert Ruef. With the support of “go international” – an initiative of the Austrian chamber of commerce/foreign trade – and the Austrian Cultural Forum in Berlin, VIENNA DESIGN WEEK’s central idea will be delivered: Six embassadors have been part of the Passionswege 2007 (Paths of Passion), Marco Dessi is this year’s newcomer and memux just recently won the Austrian Adolf Loos Staatspreis Design.
Neigungsgruppe Design summarizes its objective for 2008: “Our design festival is passionate and independent. After the successful premiere in 2007, we want to renew our offer to visitors with curated, international content closely linked to the city and its lively design scene. With the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK Embassy we can deliver these thoughts beyond Austrian borders.”
